| Safe corporate social computing?
Look around at social and collaborative computing and what do you see? A complete hotch potch of different systems, some of which run safely behind the firewall, others which sit out there on someone else's servers. You hop from Flickr to Outlook to Skype to Facebook to discussion groups, or whatever. Each has its own approach and, often, integration is only possible through hyperlinks or copy/paste. Add to this the fact that you're working on different devices, laptop, desktop, internet café terminal, mobile phone, Blackberry and so on and what have you got? A lot of time wasting, a lack of security and data distributed all over the show. It can't last. To move forward we need to get to a point where all we're concerned about is doing stuff with our information and other people while the systems themselves move towards invisibility.
Clinton set to fight on after March 4th
Two of the biggest turnarounds vis-a-vis polling and actual results have occurred in New Hampshire and California, where larger than expected turnout among female voters (in New Hampshire) and Hispanics (in California) proved decisive, further emphasising the key role that racial and gender demographics have played in this years Democratic nomination contest. In Texas, Obama has a strong lead among blacks (85% to 8% according to Zogby), Mrs Clinton has a substantial advantage among Hispanic voters (55% to 33%) whilst the two are effectively tied among whites, suggesting the relative turnouts among blacks and Hispanics (respectively 21% and 24% of voters in the 2004 primary) could be crucial in determining the outcome of the statewide popular vote, a vote which both candidates realise has enormous propaganda value despite delegates being awarded based on outcomes in individual senate districts and precincts.
John Lennon iPod touch box covers five touch versions
Apple also packages the newly released $499 32GB iPod touch in the Lennon box. The company has previously suggested that it would temporarily discount and phase out iPod touches without the updated applications; it was not known whether these models would receive box updates to distinguish them from later models. This was my first time in Washington DC and while it was a little cold for my Californian bones, it was a beautiful city and seeing the capitol of the nation was certainly a worthwhile experience. One thing that struck me was how large and spread-out the Capitol was with so many Government buildings several miles apart. The panel was moderated by Scott Wallsten, VP for Research and Senior Fellow of iGrowthGlobal.
Hardware Wal-Mart to Give HD DVD the Boot, Sides With Blu-ray
I enjoy seeing the angry little fans I have rate me down. I know for a fact that a couple of them have rate down alt accounts and purposefully go through and rate down my stuff regardless.Regularly I have watched +5 posts end up at -1 once my little fanboys get done using their alts. It really thrills me to think that they get so excited over everything I say just to go to that trouble. .
X Factor finalist pulls out of show over happy slapping attack
A'butter wouldn't melt' X-Factor finalist from North Finchley has pulled out of the hit show after she was caught on camera beating and threatening fellow teenagers. In one clip, posted on video-sharing website YouTube, 15-year-old Emily Nakanda threatens to cut out a boy's eyes while a friend wields a six-inch kitchen knife. In another, allegedly sent by mobile phone to 'loads of kids' around Emily's school, the singer is seen launching an attack on a blonde girl, known as Anna. While wearing her school uniform, she gets the girl in a headlock, swings her round by the hair, punches her and pushes her to the ground. A spokeswoman for X Factor said the matter had been invesitgated and confirmed Emily had withdrawn from the competition." Louise Friberg, Emily's mother, said: "As a family we are heartbroken and are very disappointed with Emily's behaviour, we feel there is no choice but to withdraw Emily from the competition.
WSU's Tony Bennett could have tough choice ahead
He said flatly he wouldn't talk about it. You'd assume Bennett would listen. Indiana drips with history, from its five national titles to its candy-stripe warmup pants. There's a reason they made a movie called "Hoosiers." Just as there's history at Indiana, there's history with the Bennett family there. Kathi Bennett, Tony's older sister and the member of the family Dick Bennett has said might be the best at it, was head coach of the Hoosiers' women from 2000 to 2005 before resigning and getting out of the business. Indiana would offer Tony Bennett a bunch more money than the Cougars can; they're paying him $800,000 annually. Bloomington, at 70,000 population, would present a college town but not one as remote as Pullman. No more would he have to contend with the nettlesome travel issues in and out of WSU.
